The Legend of Love

To save her dying younger sister Shirin, Queen Mekhmene Banu agrees to sacrifice her own beauty to a mysterious Stranger. Both sisters then fall in love with the same man, the court painter Ferkhad, who returns Shirin's love; when the couple try to flee the palace, Mekhmene Banu has them captured and forces Ferkhad to prove himself by carving a channel through an iron mountain to bring water to her drought-stricken people. Torn between his love for Shirin and his duty to the people, Ferkhad ultimately chooses to remain and finish the task, and the lovers part.
