Sylvia

Sylvia, a nymph sworn to chastity in service of the goddess Diana, is loved by the shepherd Aminta but wounds him with an arrow when he interrupts her hunting party. Struck in turn by an arrow from Eros, she is overcome with remorse just as the predatory hunter Orion abducts her to his lair. Eros revives Aminta and later helps Sylvia escape her captor, reuniting the lovers at Diana's temple; when Orion returns to reclaim Sylvia, Diana kills him, and — reminded by Eros of her own past love for the shepherd Endymion — relents and blesses Sylvia and Aminta's union.
