Scheherazade

Sultan Shahriyar, persuaded by his brother Shahzeman that his favourite wife Zobeide has been unfaithful, feigns departure on a hunting trip. As soon as he is gone, Zobeide and the women of the harem bribe the Chief Eunuch to free the male slaves, and an orgy erupts, centred on Zobeide's passion for the Golden Slave. Shahriyar returns unexpectedly to catch the lovers together and orders a massacre of his concubines and their slaves. Rather than face execution, Zobeide takes her own life at the Sultan's feet.
