Act 1 - Raymonda's Dream

Part of No. 14 Grand pas d'action in Glazunov's score (a. Grand adage, b. Valse fantastique, c-e. variations, f. Grande coda), so this is a SIBLING of the Valse Fantastique rather than a movement of it. The "(Valse Fantastique)" qualifier follows the Bolshoi's own labelling of these clips, which is what circulating video titles use. This is RAYMONDA'S OWN variation — No. 14e, "Variation de Raymonde", the last of the three, after the two demi-soloist variations (14c Rhykliakova, 14d Geltzer) that the Bolshoi posts as "Valse Fantastique Variation #1/#2". Petipa CUT 14e from the original production and substituted Glazunov's interpolated "Variation pour Mlle. Legnani", arranged from the Valse of his Scenes de Ballet op. 52 — that is what is danced today. Named for what circulating titles actually say: "Dream Variation", "Dream Scene Variation", "Daydreams Variation" (Royal Ballet), "Tableau du Reve" in the competition register — never "Variation III", which is why searching for a third variation finds nothing. The import's research notes attached the Mariinsky's "songfully dreamy" description to Variation II, but the Mariinsky page never numbers the variation and the published Belaieff score index orders the scene Grand Adagio / Valse fantastique / Variation I / II / III / Coda, putting Raymonda's third.
