Le Spectre de la Rose

A young girl returns home from her first ball, still holding the rose she was given as a keepsake, and falls asleep in a chair with the flower slipping from her fingers. In her dream, the spirit of the rose leaps in through her window and dances with her, embodying the romance and intoxication of the evening she has just left. After leading her back to her chair and kissing her, the spirit vanishes back out the window in a single soaring leap. She wakes alone, picks up the fallen rose, and kisses it, unaware of the dream she has just had.
