Elite Syncopations

Elite Syncopations has no narrative plot. It imagines a rowdy, brightly costumed dancehall competition, evoking early-1900s ragtime culture, where a rotating cast of couples and soloists show off in front of an onstage ragtime band. Structured as a suite of individual numbers rather than a story, it lets each dancer flirt, compete, and display their own virtuosic or comic specialty in turn, with off-duty dancers watching from the sidelines as if part of the crowd.
