Coppélia

In a Galician village, Swanilda grows jealous when her fiancé Franz becomes infatuated with Coppélia, a beautiful girl who sits reading at the window of the eccentric toymaker Dr. Coppélius — not realizing she is actually a life-sized mechanical doll. Swanilda and her friends sneak into Coppélius's workshop and discover the truth, and when Coppélius catches Franz there too and tries to magically transfer his life force into Coppélia, Swanilda disguises herself as the doll to foil the scheme and save Franz. The trick succeeds, Coppélius is left heartbroken over his lifeless creation, and the reconciled couple joins the village in a festive wedding celebration.
