A Folk Tale

On the eve of her wedding to the nobleman Ove, the vain and spoiled Birthe reveals herself to be a changeling — a troll swapped at birth for the true noble child, Hilda, who was raised among the trolls and elves. Ove is lured into the elf-hill by the elf-maidens and falls under a spell, while Hilda, sensing she doesn't belong among the trolls, dreams of her true origins and flees their world. After Hilda breaks Ove's enchantment and Birthe's troll nature is exposed, the two changelings are restored to their rightful places, and Hilda and Ove are united in marriage.
